In this 22 minute interview Kakul describes how 3 million photographs are uploaded to Flickr every day and are shared through more than 3 billion page views per month. Among the many insights that Kakul shared in this interview, we talked about Building Community such as “Squared Circle”, and Getty Images Licensing Project, which is a collection of Flickr photos that will launch on gettyimages.com in the near future. Kakul discusses how the Smithsonian Institution as well as other cultural organizations are archiving many of thier public photography collections for The Commons. Kakul also explains how companies are using Flickr to “Humanize” their businesses. We also speak about the new wave of photography due to the camera-phone and how there is currently 3 camera-phones for every single person on the planet.
